"So far, such events have happened very spontaneously and although Andhra Pradesh and Amaravati have a long history with Buddhism, they have never experienced such a big event. The government was also very keen to promote this as a tourist festival.
But how to organize and set up the necessary infrastructure for an expected 60-80 thousand pilgrims in this idyllic hamlet, far from the crossroads of tourist traffic?
That was our challenge.
Transport, housing, electricity, potable drinking water, food and provisions, sanitation and medical care, not to mention waste and garbage, had to be planned carefully and completed in time.
