Claudia Leisinger REPORTAGE

Namlo Yak

“My heart is still in Tibet, I lead a Tibetan life in a Tibetan society in India. And yes, the Tibetans from Tibet and the ones in India look the same superficially, but if one digs deeper they talk and think differently. It may have an influence that Tibetans in Tibet still feel their roots: they all stem from nomads.”

“The whole world is changing and I am sure that if the Chinese hadn’t invaded Tibet, we would have changed as well, but how, we don’t know. Maybe we can look at out neighbour Bhutan, a country with a Tibetan cultural background, which was never invaded nor colonized, then became a member of the United Nations and now is finding its way to a modern state.”

“Looking at the Tibetan Buddhist ceremonies performed in the midst of the heat and the humidity of the Amaravati landscape, I realize: this was the very place where Buddhism started and spread out and moved towards Tibet. And I believe in the future it will come once again to influence modern Tibet…”

Tibetan poet and researcher for the International Campaign for Tibet http://www.savetibet.org/

Aims to let the rest of the world know the current situation in Tibet and to inspire fellow Tibetans to fight for their cause through his poems.
